    1. Peter Conroy
    2. Looking for my greatgrandfather, Peter Conroy, who was born Nov. 27,1827 in Queens County, Ireland, now Laois County. I believe his father was named James. At age 17, Peter sailed to America and I next locate him in the 1850 US census residing in Greensburg, Pa., where he married Anna McCarty in 1856. They moved to Lee County, Iowa [Keokuk] and a son was born in 1858 named James, who only lived for 5 days. In a year another son was born named Peter Jr., and then Mary was born and then John William, my grandfather. Anna died around 1869 and Peter Sr. re-married to Sarah Crawford. At this time Peter and family were living on a farm at Clark County, Missouri [Kahoka]. This second marriage took place about 1877. Clark County, Missouri is west of Keokuk, Iowa across the Mississippi River and only 20 miles from Keokuk, Iowa. Subsequently daughter Mary married a methodist minister named Matthew Sexsmith. Son John married Anna Klamer. Peter, Sr. died Dec. 31, 1909 and is burried in Kahoka, Missouri. I would appreciate any information or help that anyone can give me. Incidentally, his first wife, Anna McCarty was from Belfast. Thank you Daryl Conroy conroyclaims@cs.com
