Just in case there is anyone going to be in or around Laois on the May Bank Holiday weekend....... Half-Door Club Festival, Community Centre, Castletown, Co Laois 3-6 May 2002, E40, $36, £25 This popular weekend attracts dancers from as far as Europe and America with five ceilis and two workshops during the four-day bank holiday weekend. Five great bands are playing during the weekend - Matt Cunningham on Friday night, Swallow's Tail on Saturday night, the Emerald Ceili Band on Sunday afternoon, the Abbey Ceili Band on Sunday night, and the Glenside Ceili Band on Monday afternoon. Night ceilis begin at 9.30pm and afternoon ceilis at 2pm. The workshops are by Pat Murphy on Saturday morning and afternoon, and Sunday morning. Most dancers head over to the Pastoral Centre after the late ceilis where there's a cup of tea and a session. The Pastoral Centre also offers reasonably priced full board accommodation.
