    3. Hello to All - First let me say I've been subscribing for a few months now and have learned a lot from all of you. Thank you! I'm seeking information on Patrick McEVOY, b. 1805, Mountmellick, Laois. Patrick came to the US in 1823. He settled in Lancaster, PA, and soon became a railroad contractor on the Pennsylvania Central Railroad. . He married Julia MAHER, b. 1813, Mountmellick, Laois; daughter of Timothy and Mary (GORMAN) MAHER in July 1835 in Mountmellick. He was the contractor on the Horseshoe Curve section of the railroad at Altoona. Family lore is that he was either a cousin or uncle of Peter F. McEVOY (my husband's g-grandfather) and was instrumental in bringing Peter to the US. Peter McEVOY, b. 5 Jan 1825, Mountmellick, Laois, emigrated to the US as a young man (possibly around 1850), settled in Lancaster, PA, and went to work for the railroad. He married Julia Ann DUNN 13 Jul 1858, in Lancaster, PA. Julia was born in 1837 in Portarlington, Offaly. Peter and Julia had nine children. - Ella E., Julia A. Edward T., Mary L., John W., Michael J., Patrick A., James H., and Peter F. I've been unable to conclusively connect parents or siblings to either of these men. I do believe, though, that Peter McEVOY had a brother Dennis McEVOY who lived in Pittsburgh in 1870 and possibly two sisters Jane Flanigan and Mrs. John Woods still in Ireland at that time. These people as well as Dennis' son Terrence, Jane's daughter Ellen, and Mrs. John Woods' daughter Kate are all mentioned in Patrick McEVOY's will in 1870. Does anyone have information that might connect to any of these people? I'd be happy to share any of the information I have. Nancy McEvoy
