The two parish registers which begin in 1823 (baptisms)and 1820 (marriages) have written on the front of them by the Parish Priest 'Ballenakill, Ballyroan, Abyleix & Knocgordegur'. The Abbeyleix & Ballyroan registers on a different film are supposed to begin in 1824 for both marriages & baptisms. There is no mention in any index of the RC parish of Knockardegur or 'Knocoredegur' These two parish registers therefore give us records for the parishes of Abbeyleix & Ballyroan which are not supposed to exist. I have indexed the names of the children baptised in the year 1830, the index is on my web site at: http://www.laoisgenealogy.com/rc/bnakillb1830.htm I do not include the townland names for each entry and neither do I include the sponsor names. The townland names are difficult to read and abbreviated most of the time. Listed below are all townland names as I read and transcribed them. I have not gone through these to try and identify the civil parishes that they belong to.
