It is now called Portlaoise and is a few miles east of the town of Mountrath. Maryborough was in the civil parish of Borris. The town of Mountrath is in the civil parish of Clonenagh and Clonagheen. As Annette has indicated, there are two townlands called Mountrath--the other one is indeed in Offerlane parish. I think the Offerlane option is not the one for your folks.
