Most of what you posted I already had extracted from FHL 0926188 (parish register of Borris-in-Ossory Catholic parish, Co. Laois), although for some of the children, the year of baptism differs by one year from my reading of the register. Are you related in some way to this family? I am not sure if my Kavanagh family is connected or not. In the early 1800s, my family was living in the vicinity of Clonbuogh (Clonboo), County Tipperary, which is about 5 miles southwest of Garranmaconly. My family at Clonboo included 4xg-gfather Thomas Kavanagh (b. abt 1750, murdered 1821 at Clonboo) and his son Daniel Kavanagh (b. abt 1790 Ireland, d. 1864 Dakota County, Minnesota, USA). Sometime before 1821, Daniel Kavanagh married Ellen Keyes (b. abt 1800, d. 1880 Passaic County, New Jersey, USA). They were my ggg-gparents. The Catholic parish register of Templemore/Clonmore (Co. Tipperary) shows 11 children baptized to them there between 1823 and 1845, and I suspect that there were perhaps a few others that fall into gaps in the register or pre-date the extant registers. Most of my Kavanagh family emigrated to the US in the late 1840s or early 1850s and settled in New Jersey and Minnesota. There were not many Kavanaghs in the immediate area of Clonboo, so I suspect that there is probably some connection between my family and other Kavanagh families that lived along the Tipperary-Laois-Kilkenny border. But the connection might be difficult to prove because it probably pre-dates most of the parish registers in the area. However, the Kavanagh family of Garranmaconly does appear in the early Rathdowney Catholic parish register. The Rathdowney parish register shows a baptism in 1791 or 1795 [dates in some early parts of the register are either missing or difficult to determine] of Judith Kavanagh, daughter of Patrick Kavanagh and Catherine Dunne of Garran; baptismal sponsors were Edward & Bridget Kavanagh. I extracted this from microfilm P5013 at the National Library of Ireland many years ago. The same register shows the marriage on 24 Aug 1780 of Patt Kavanagh of Garren, Skirke Parish, and Kate Dunne, with witnesses John Dunn "her uncle", Kate Dunne and "others" (unnamed). A note in the register says "married by Dispensation from Mr. Shee", but the nature of the dispensation and identity of "Mr. Shee" were not described. There is an unfortunate gap of about 40 years in the Rathdowney register beginning in the 1790s, and the records then resume in the late 1830s. This makes it difficult to trace forward the families found in the early Rathdowney records. There is probably a connection between the James Kavanagh who lived at Garranmaconly in the 1840s-1860s and the earlier Patrick Kavanagh of the same place who married in 1780, but that gap makes it hard to say exactly what the connection was.
