Searching for the MARTIN FITZGERALD family of Durrow in Laois and the families of William RAFTER and Catherine MARTIN of Castle Durrow. Martin Fitzgerald was born around 1801, had a son named Martin B. who married Margaret RAFTER of Castle Durrow . Margaret emigrated to US in 1850 or 1851,don't know if she came with Martin F or not, but they married in 1853 in Saratoga Springs NY against the wishes of her parents William and Catherine (MARTIN) Rafter. Had six children: Matthew J b. 1854-5, Katherine R b. 1856, Thomas J. b. 1858, Mary b. 1859, Margaret B. b. 1861, and William M b. 1865 ( all in Saratoga Springs NY) Martin B died in 1866 of a ruptured appendix in Saratoga.
