Many of them knew who John and Mollie were. Your information below is the same story I've received over the years. Hi Dan I also have Ryan ancestors in Laois. My g-mother on my father's side was a Ryan, whose family came from Stradbally. Here is the connection --- Jeremiah RYAN (g-g'father) born c 1849 Stradbally Parents: Michael RYAN Mary KEEFFE (spelling may differ) In Griffith's, there are both Ryans and Keefes' listed as living in Main St Stradbally. Jeremiah came to Brisbane, Australia on the ship "Winefred" from London in 22 Dec1874. Indications are that he came out with his brothers - William (c 1843) ; John (c 1847) ; Thomas (c 1854). It would appear that their parents stayed in Ireland. Bridget KELLY (g-g'mother) born c 1855 Timahoe (just outside Stradbally) Parents: Michael KELLY Bridget BRADY Bridget also came to Brisbane ON THE SAME SHIP as the Ryans. Data further suggests that her brother Marcus (c 1856) also came out with her. The Ryan "clan" in Laois seems small. Have you any detail to suggest that our Ryans are connected?? The period of interest is 1860 and prior.
