I agree that Co. Laois is the key locale. Fortunately, my William Bonham's marriage record clearly stated his mother's Ramsbottom name, which in fairly short order, let me to Abbeyleix. I have a cousin that lives in Carlow and she may be able to follow up on some leads locally, depending on her schedule. However, I will follow up on the leads you suggest and will post what I learn.
