Records show the Delan(e)y spelling during this time period (1840-1890) as "Delany" on Irish records and "Delaney" on the 1881 First-Naturalization Papers "in the States". And there's suppose to be a different in the historical backgrounds / time-lines of the of the two separate groups...And its been told or "passed around" that people just didn't care about the way they spelled their names or other peoples names..."What do we really have now...?" What type of "his-story" at best. I've accepted the Immigration "story" of the Local Native "writers trying to understand the in-coming immigrants speech etc..." But am having a "tougher time accepting the "lack of concern of the Irish way of doing things as "simple as getting their last names spelled correctly...especially when "the Irish" are trying to straigthen out their own past of regressions with their history and short comings. Over-charging and having unreasonable web-sites that are designe! d to "my more money because of the "maze" that is man-made by their own hands..." Can you imagine the Middle ages Irish Monks doing the same thing to their "recorded histories" they trans-scribed and copied...? Looking for feed-bank from "the Ancestry clan". peace, jim delaney.
