I know that the "Brislan/Breslin" is extremely unusual in Laois...but I did a search of 1850's Griffith's Valuation of the all of the variants of this surname I could think of (Breslin, Brislin, Braslin, Brisland, etc...) and came up with ONLY 2 HITS - Bryan and Thomas BRUSLAND in the townland of Glenkeen Upper, near Clonaslee. Search the following link: http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/gv_family_search_form.php Also, there is a James Brusland still living in Glenkeen Upper in the 1901 census, see following link: http://64.233.169.132/search?q=cache:Ce4vzPEjp48J:www.from-ireland.net/laois/census/1901/kilmanman.htm brusland 1901&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us If you are certain that your Dennis Brisland hails from county Laois, then Glenkeen Upper may be a possibilty. Hope this helps, Joe Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
