    3. Christina Hunt posted several photos of the Portarlington, Jamestown, Lea, Laois area, to the rootsweb site. They are here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllex/photos.htm From the main website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllex/index.htm go to Photos of Lea. I have permission by the Dempseys of the area, who took the photos, to share them, if you need a JPEG file. These are "landscape" photos, that include the Lea (Dempsey) castle. The Dempseys say that there are usually black swans on the River Barrow. All the photos are from Fall 2001. For more of a sense of "walking around" go to the Dempseys website at http://www.barrowvale.com/abbeyview/index.asp (there's alot on the rooms and hotel etc., however my favorite is the photo captioned, "This is the side entrance, you can park your car here. Give a wave to the neighbours !!") Also, don't miss the "History". The history includes information well beyond the cottage, and also includes surnames Coady, Dempsey, O'Connor, Adair, Finnegan, D'Donnell, Carroll, as pertains to the Cottage owners, it's history and the community. It also includes current information on the local bees and birds. Go to the bottom of the page to Outside views. Scroll down past the apple trees.
