Mary and Kieran were married in Rathdowney Catholic parish, Co. Laois on 2 Feb 1866. The niece Catherine Keys is the daughter of Mary's brother William Keyes and his wife Margaret (also nee Keyes) of Monamonra, Co. Laois, very close to the Tipperary border. Mary (nee Keyes) Fitzpatrick was the daughter of William Keyes and Catherine "Kitty" Dwyer (or O'Dwyer). Mary was baptized in Rathdowney Catholic parish on 15 Jun 1842, residence Moonamonra [sic]; sponsors were John Kay [probably Keys/Keyes] & Mary Quinlan [transcribed from Rathdowney Catholic parish register from microfilm at National Library of Ireland in Dublin by Geralyn Wood Barry, 2006]. William Keys and Catherine O'Dwyer were married across the border in Templemore parish (Clonmore), Co. Tipperary in 1838. But they lived in Monamonra, and all their children were baptized in Rathdowney parish, Co. Laois. Many of their children and grandchildren emigrated to the US and lived in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey and in New York City.
