    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Clonbrock is in both Galway and Offaly and Queens. www.familysearch.org should have the death if he died after 1864. The Union/Civil Registration District for Clonbrock Queens is Carlow, for Clonbrock Galway its Mountbellow, Offaly is Edenderry. There are 468 James Tobin deaths in Ieland on familysearch, but not knowing his approximate birth year was unable to find it myself. I'm with using the Foundation even if its costs a bit, you can spread out your purchases over a period of time. Once you have a date you can apply for a certified copy (after 1864) of the civil record from the General Registry Office www.groireland.ie but don't know what advantage having a certified copy is unless its really important. There is possibly another free search available depending on the year of this death is a commercial website which is 99% free info but posted by a person doing genealogy for a living. The Irish Civil Registrations go up to about 1911 at least for deaths. Pages and pages of them. I tried a surname search but it came back no record but I didn't enter a county and that might of made a difference. As this site is considered commercial by rootsweb I can't give you the name on the message board, personally the quick fix, less work option would work for me.
