And other families from surrounding Newtown, Queen's County and over the border in County Kilkenny also show up. Reason being that the Shotts Iron Company couldn't find enough labour, and ironworks need coal, which need miners. And Castlecomer, Kilkenny up to Newtown, Queen's County had such labour. And so in the 1891 Census for Cleland, in the infamous Omoa Square (No. 27) were: * John Tobin, head, 42, Ireland * Patrick, son, 20, New Monkland * Richard, son, 15, New Monkland * Mary, dau, 13, New Monkland * Margaret, dau, 11, New Monkland * Ann, dau, 9, New Monkland * Thomas, son, 7, New Momkland * Ellen, dau, 6, New Monkland * Henry, son, 1, New Monland At 31 Omoa Square were (didn't note their full details at the time): * Richard Tobin * Catherine * John * Mary * Sarah * Ann * Bridget Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
