George, if you go to Google maps http://maps.google.com/ and type newtown, laois in the search box and click on the "Search Maps" button, you will get a map with Newtown's location denoted by a small balloon. Newtown is on the N8. If you follow the N8 to the northeast in the direction of the town of Durrow, you will see "Derreen and Carrowreagh" less than 1/2 mile in that direction from Newtown. You can zoom in and out with the + and - controls to get a better idea of exactly where this is.
