I am looking for any information relating to Francis McGrath, my great grandfather, and his family who I think resided for a period in Cahir, County Tipperary. Maybe from 1869-1870 to 1878 or longer. Francis McGrath may have been christened as Francis John McGrath. He was in the Royal Irish Constabulary in Cahir and later transferred to Mountrath and appears to have been stationed in Mountrath during the 1880s. Francis McGrath married a Mary O’Halloran and their son, John McGrath entered the Patrician Brothers Order at Mountrath in 1885. Two daughters entered the Convent and became teaching nuns. Another daughter may have married and become a Mrs McAuliffe and may have lived in Wicklow. She may have had sons who were in the New York Police Force. Their 4th daughter, Ellen Mary McGrath was my grandmother, who immigrated to New Zealand and married Cornelius Walsh in 1902 in Wellington. I would be very grateful to receive any piece of information at lvsjbs@bigpond.com
