I offer the following suggestions: I think Dorcas COSBY alias SYDNEY's 2nd husband was named ZOUCHE. John BARNES did marry Johanna PIGOTT (possibly alias HOVENDEN) alias WALSH, sometime before 1578, when they are both named as guardians in the Fiant of Queen Elizabeth by which the younger son, Robert PIGOTT, was declared the new heir-apparent to the Dysart Estates, after the death of his elder brother Thomas (date details for these events are recorded in an Exchequer Inquisition held in Maryborough in 1578, & formerly preserved, in Latin, in the Public Records Office, Four Courts, Dublin, a copy of which was made in the 1880's, well before it was destroyed by fire, by the Deputy Keeper of Public Records, and published in Vere Langford OLIVER's "History of Antigua," Vol 3, pp.25-29). Family lore suggests that Ann ST LEGER was instead the daughter of William ST LEGER (the eldest but disinherited son of Sir Anthony ST LEGER, Lord Deputy of Ireland) by his wife Isabel KEYES, and therefore the sister of Sir Warham ST LEGER the younger (which doesn't preclude their also being a brother William, but I find no records for one); Ann died in 1599 (her Funeral Entry is recorded in the Genealogical Office, Dublin). Elizabeth PIGOTT had her first child by Richard COSBY in 1608 (shortly after Dorcas ZOUCHE alias COSBY alias SYDNEY's death - which adds weight to the theory that their marriage did not meet with her approval). But Robert PIGOTT's 2nd wife, Thomasin CASTILLION alias PEYTON, was not free to marry PIGOTT until after her 1st husband's death, and we know the he was still alive on 5 Oct 1600 (from the date on his despatch from the Moyry Pass, describing Lord MOUNTOY's skirmishing around the Army of the Earl of Tyrone). Which leads me to the inevitable conclusion that Elizabeth must have been the daughter of Ann ST LEGER; and therefore identical to Sibilla, who marr Barnaby DUNN - indeed, Sibilla DUNN alias PIGOTT's Funeral Entry (Genealogical Office, Dublin) does record her with two sets of escutcheons, the impaled Arms of COSBY=PIGOTT and DUNN=PIGOTT, which provides corroboration. Research indicates that Thomasine's father, Queen Elizabeth's Auditor in Ireland, was Christopher PEYTON, who died in Dublin in 1612. Further, it seems likely that Robert PIGOTT's 1609 knighthood was granted for his efforts in supporting a Mr CROSBIE's removal of large numbers of native Irish, including the "pesky" O'MORE clan, out of the Queen's County, & resettling them in other parts of the kingdom, as recorded in Lord Deputy CHICHESTER's letter. I have posted details of Sir Robert PIGOTT's life on my blog page, at www.pigott-gorrie.blogspot.com in the very first posting in May 2007. Regards, Chris PIGOTT, Potts Point, N.S.W.
