Hi List I need advice on accessing the Church of Ireland Parish Register for Stradbally. Apparently it is held by the local parish. So, where do I write to? To whom mightI address the enquiry? Is it likely that my enquiry will be responded to? Might there be copies held centrally, in Dublin? I am hoping to find recorded the baptism of Henry Porter VASS c1818 (and of any siblings of course); the marriage of his parents, Michael Walter VASS and Jane PORTER (sometime before 1818); perhaps even their and their siblings baptisms and their deaths. I am aware of the Laois & Offaly Family History Research Centre but their charges seem particularly high and there has been some debate on the Offaly list as to their strength in Protestant enquiries. Besides that they don't seem to be interested in responding to email, although they say all initial enquiries are answered promptly. I sent something they promoted as a "free assessment" last March and never got a response. Also sent an email on 19 Jan this year. Nada, and these were for a Catholic enquiry.
