I am not sure who the mother of Edward Flood, jr was as his father married twice. Unfortunately, When he died in Brooklyn, NY in 1891 the death certificates only asked for the Father's name and his mother's birthplace, but not her name. He had remarriage in 1868, but according to his widow's pension application, the minister did not register the marriage as required by law.(He volunteered for the Union side in the American Civil War). I have found that most of the information that Antony Maitland has on the Floods has turned out to be accurate. You can read a paper I wrote about it at: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dftdvcfv_4d29b5rfs&hl=en Near the end of the paper, I give my reasons for the link of Edward Flood, Jr. to Luke Flood and Mary Aletta Biggs. Don't expect too much from this paper, I'm an amateur, and Irish records of the time are scanty. Henry Cornelius in the Griffith's Valuation was likely the one born about 1820, as the valuation was taken in 1850. Elderfield is in the RC parish of Castletown, though both the Cornelius family and Flood Family were Protestant. I noticed on the Maitland site that Henry Cornelius was born in Anatrim and died in Castletown. When Edward Flood, Jr. eloped he gave his residence as Anatrim and his father's as Middlemount. A few weeks after his elopement, he married in the Anglican Church. That is where H. Cornelius, Cap't Royal Artillery witnessed the ceremony. If you would like I e-mail a copy to you.
