I would expect to find something in the 1700s through 1850 at the latest. Thank you for anything you can find. I will call the Church of Ireland Library in Dublin again. A few years ago someone there gave me the impression that there were NO surviving records. Sandy, until a few years ago the registers were held in the parish. They were sent to Dublin sometime after 2002. I have personally been through them in the RCBL, but they won't do the research for you. You'd have to hire someone to do it on your behalf. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sandy Gardiner" <sandra.gardiner@verizon.net> To: <irl-laois@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 13, 2011 1:46 PM Subject: Re: [LAOIS] Stoker, Gardiner >I would expect to find something in the 1700s through 1850 at the latest. > Thank you for anything you can find. > I will call the Church of Ireland Library in Dublin again. > A few years ago someone there gave me the impression that there were NO > surviving records. > Sandy
Has anyone seen Gardiner or Stoker graves at the Portlaoise Church of Ireland graveyard? Are the any surviving marriage records and baptism records? What time frame are you looking at? The registers from about 1800 onward are available at the Church of Ireland Library in Dublin. And other families from surrounding Newtown, Queen's County and over the border in County Kilkenny also show up. Reason being that the Shotts Iron Company couldn't find enough labour, and ironworks need coal, which need miners. And Castlecomer, Kilkenny up to Newtown, Queen's County had such labour.
