I will follow up on your recommendations. As I was reading an email from a Fitzpatrick relative in Wisconsin, USA she mentioned that she believed "John Fitzpatrick" married "Elizabeth Fitzpatrick"...I am not sure if this is correct; she received the info from a family member who is now deceased. She also said when John and Elizabeth came to the US they only brought 2 of their children and left the others (unknown number and names)behind. I will try to familiarize myself with the links you sent. I am a bit of a novice at this. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is a small fee. Ellen Haslam 1840 for birth and 1858 for marriage Michael Delaney 2 x 1858 marriages Michael Dalaney 29 from 1835-1845. If you get a birth record it should contain a father and a mother's name and mothers maiden name, place/parish and date. A marriage record contains only both father's names, place/parish and date. Records before 1864 are Parish records and for RC are located in individual Parish's and the National Library in Dublin, also the Latter Day Saints website www.familysearch.org - go to "previous site" as the new website is for records after 1864. The Foundation above records have locally sourced and civil registration records. In the Griffith Valuation 1850 there are listed 742 Delaney's and of them 74 named Michael. There are 29 Haslam's. Since Michael didn't marry till 1858 unlikely he is listed with his own land, more likely father/grandfather Mountrath is a townland and a town in the Union of Mountmellick, in two Parish's 1) Clonenagh & Clonagheen and 2) Parish Offerlane. Griffith Valuation of 1850 has 9 Haslem's living in the Parish Clonenagh & Clongheen, none townland of Mountrath Andew, Richard, John, Edward, Finton, Thomas None in the Parish of Offerlane.(look to their children's names for clues) The Delaney's in the Parish of Offerlane total 144 and just one in the the townland of Mountrath is named Martin occupies property and is a tenant of Sir Chas. H. Coote. Bart # 1a outbuilding and land 14 acresss 1 rood ands 15 perches. He must have a house but there are 14 Martin Delaney's in the Parish of Offerlane. It will cost you ?5 to access it, but well worth it, I would think. I always find the sponsors names of particular interest (on both marriage & baptismal certs). I've purchased hundreds of records from IFHF, and personaly find it a wonderful site as without it there's no way I would have been able to find the info. By the way, in case anybody thinks I'm advertising, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONNECTION other than being a very satisfied client!! Hi Have you checked the IFHF site for births/marriages? (pay site) This is the email address for the RCB susan.hood@rcbdub.org - I found Susan Hood quite helpful when I contacted her a few months ago. Good luck.
