Thomas William Robert Wilde married Frances Dier/Dyer and they raised (at least) 13 children in Abbeyleix, Queens Co. I say 'at least 13' because my great aunt Jennie Wilde once told me that there were 19 siblings! But I have only found 13, among them my great, great grandfather Edward Wilde (born 1812), who emigrated to Ontario sometime after 1827 with his older brother Jonathan Wilde and his family. Other sibling's names were: Anne, Thomas (two were named Thomas since the first died before one year), Sarah, Margaret, Frances, Robert, Jane Elizabeth, Henry, Andrew and William. Aunt Jennie also said that William was Oscar Wilde's father but I have serious doubts about this due to my research into Oscar Wilde's family history. Tom Wilde Chesapeake, Virginia

At least two people have placed the Dempsey baptisms online for all to see for free. Christina Hunt has placed them at http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllex/dempbapt.htm This is a Laois/Leix Queen's board Arthur Dempsey will be placing the information on the Dempsey board, also at rootsweb I believe. Arthur, the URL, please? These records are worth a look if you believe you have any family in the Portarlington, Lea area of Laois (Queen's) even if they are not Dempseys. Ceck out the godparents. This is all of the information I have. I can not do lookups. I am not in Ireland. I do not have the full baptism records for the parish. Happy hunting.
Hi, all, I found the grave stone of Edward MAHAR on Prince Edward Island Canada. It says that he died Dec 27, 1875 aged 85, and that he was a native of Queens Co Ireland. I haven't found a marriage record yet, so perhaps he married an Elizabeth SHIELS before leaving Ireland. Unfortunately I don't yet know when he arrived on PEI, nor where he was born in Laois. I do have some information about the family on PEI if anyone senses a possible connection, and I'd be happy to pass it on. I believe him to be my gr gr grandfather, and would be very appreciative for any clues! Thanks, Jim Cassidy Boston Mass USA area.

James Grennan and Judith Lawlor (various spellings) were married before they removed to New Brunswick, which was about 1826. Their first child, Grace Grennan, was born in Ireland about 1818. James died before 1835. When Judith died, her place of birth was given as Queen's County. They were Roman Catholic. I know nothing about their lives in Ireland and Laois is all I have as to origin.
