Mary BARRETT married David GORMAN around 1815; in 1835, after his death she emigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada with seven or eight children. She was a daughter of John (?) and Ellen Barrett who also went to PEI. Three of their other daughters married: MAY, BURN and Lawrence SCULLY and did not emigrate. Possibly from Mount Mellick....or, as one tombstone says, "CLANKEEN." Please help!

Hello, I am researching my RYAN and LUCAS ancestors from Maryborough, Queens County. My gggg grandfather John Ryan, was born circa 1786. He married Nancy Lucas > (date unknown at this stage) and they had four children. Betsy born c. 1815 Catherine born c 1820 (My ggg grandmother) Margaret born c. 1827 Mary born c. 1830. John Ryan was convicted of robbing a laundry in 1829. He was sentenced to seven years and transported to Sydney aboard the ship Larkins (2). In 1832. John Ryan wrote a letter to the Governor of NSW requesting that his family be permitted to join him in the Colony This request was granted and John's wife Nancy and three of his children sailed from Cork in 1836 aboard the ship Thomas Harrison, arriving in Sydney in June of that year. I've learned that Nancy Ryan lived at Tay Lane, Maryborough, does anyone know if this lane still exists? The eldest child Betsy Ryan did not sail with her mother and sisters to Australia. I have absolutely no other information on her other than she was 17 in 1832 (when her father wrote his letter to the Governor of NSW). I would appreciate any advice on how to trace John Ryan and Nancy Lucas in Laois and also how I am able to find the fate of Betsy Ryan. Best wishes, Terri. We are looking for ancestors of Daniel Kennedy and Margaret Donald. Not sure where he was born or parents but was married and two kids baptized in Queen's, Rathsaran, Ireland. The Family History centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada has them on microfilm as in the District of Roscrea, vol 10, page 31, page 1115 of 0101246. 1. Daniel Kennedy was born on Feb 27 1838 (we also have a date of Feb 14 1837) in Ireland. (don't know where). He died on May 15 1902 in Chatham, Kent County, Ontario, Canada. Sons George Edward and Patrick James (see baptism info below) were born in Ireland before emigrating to Canada in 1863. Daniel was born in Ireland on a Tuesday of a Leap Year (?) and baptized as a Catholic. He fought as a soldier of the British Army in the battle at Alma in the Crimean War and was wounded four times. He was shot in the leg, the arm, the side and a good portion of his skull was blown off by a Russian shell. He was put on the "dead wagon". A nurse by the name of Margaret Donald, who worked with Florence Nightingale on the battlefield, noticed that he still had a pulse and pulled him from the wagon. He was transferred to a hospital in Scutari, Turkey for recovery. A steel plate was put in his head to cover the wound. Margaret took care of him and eventually they were married. Margaret was a Scot and a protestant. Daniel and Margaret moved to Canada in 1863 with their older son George, and Patrick (six months old) and settled in Chatham, Ontario. Daniel married Margaret Donald, daughter of James Donald and Isabella Davidson, on Nov 6 1856 in Leix (Queen's), Rathsaran, Ireland. Margaret was born on Feb 13 1839 in Aberdeen, Aberdeen, Scotland. She died on May 6 1907 in Canada. Daniel and Margaret had the following children: 2 M i. Edward George Kennedy "George" was born about 1856 in Ireland and was christened in Ireland. He died in California, U.S.A. 3 M ii. Patrick James Kennedy was born on Sep 23 1862 in Leix or Laoighes (formerly Queen's), Rathsaran, Ireland and was christened on Nov 30 1862 in Queen's, Rathsaran, Ireland (we have copy of baptismal certificate). He died on Jul 8 1939 in Detroit MI (Wayne Co.).

My ancestress was names Mary Gready, and she was born in approx. 1833. I know from the 1861 census of Lancashire that she was born in Queens County. In 1857 she married my gg grandfather William Heyes in Stalybridge, and according to the marriage certificate her father was Michael Gready, weaver, and he was dec. aat the time of the marriage. I don't know when she came to England, but was in Ashton-u-Lyne in 1852, where she had a son(illegitimate) called Isaac Gregory. Maybe she came to England because of the pregnancy. My gggrandfather Richard Dooly was born 1804 in Queens County. He married Catherine Hickey, born 25 Dec 1810, I assume in Queens County. She is the daughter of Patrick Hickey and ?? Conway. Richard and Catherine had at least three sons before immigrating to the US: Patrick, born 19 Nov 1939 Thomas, born 4 Mar 1842 John M., born 28 Jun 1844 Because of the gap in the year of birth, there may have been more children born in Ireland who did not survive. The story is that Richard and Catherine moved to Wisconsin, USA about 1846 and their passage was paid by her brother, whose name may have been James Hickey. Richard and Catherine had a son Richard born 25 Oct 1846 in East Troy, Walworth County, WI. I have found a James Hickey who was born 1 Jan 1818 who was buried in Lake Geneva, Walworth County in 1891 so this may be the brother. A Patrick Hickey, born 6 Mar 1812, died in the home of Richard and Catherine's daughter in Green County, WI, so this is most likely also a brother. Have no further information for them from Ireland but lots from Wisconsin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mary Alice Dooley MADooley@email.msn.com
