    1. [IRL-LAOIS] Daniel Maher
    2. Nancy McEvoy
    3. Hi Tom, In researching Patrick McEvoy who married Julia Maher I have found the following birth records in LDS Microfilm #0926121 (St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Kildare Leighlin Diocese, Mountmellick Parish): 4 Sep 1814 - Mary born to Tim. Maher - Sponsors: Nick Flanegan, Julia Byrne 7 Apr 1817 - Margo born to Tim. Maher - Sponsors: Simon Burne, Anne Colnor 7 Aug 1822 - Daniel born to Timothy Maher - Sponsors: Patt. Moloy, Judy Colnor 6 Feb 1825 - Timothy born to Tim. Maher and Mary Gorman - Sponsors: John Duigan, Julia Glennon I can't be absolutely positive that the first three children listed are born to Timothy Maher and Mary (Gorman) Maher because the records from that time only listed the father's name, but the record for Timothy is definitely the correct parents. I don't know of a Margo or Margaret among the children, but it's possible that a child died young. I have copies of cemetery transcriptions from St. Mary's Cemetery in Lancaster where the Mahers are buried, and the ages on the headstones are slightly off. That could be due to deterioration of the stone's carving, though. My husband is related to Patrick McEvoy, and I can confirm that he and Julia (Maher) McEvoy had no children. They were married in St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Mountmellick on 12 July1835. Witnesses were Michael McEvoy and Mary Ann Dowling. I have a photocopy of the marriage record. Patrick and Julia made their home in Lancaster, PA. He was a contractor on the Pennsylvania Railroad and was prominent in the Lancaster area. If I can help further, please let me know. Nancy

    3. Hi, I am searching for Large and its French variations in County Laois. The family may have been descendants of French Huguenots who fled to the county in the 1600's. If not, they probably date to Norman times. They are also found in County Kilkenny. Deborah (Large) Fox

    3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. If you can read this line, your email software does not support this format. --MyFaMiLyMiMeBoUnDaRy02292000 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello List, My ggg-grandmother, Margaret LAWLER (spelling varies depending on the source) is buried in St. Columbkille's Cemetery in Pocahontas Co., IA. Her death certificate indicates that she lived from 1819 to 1889, and was born in Ireland. According to a Pocahontas Co. history, she married my ggg--grandfather, William LYNCH in 1852 in Montreal, Quebec. In 1880, she is listed as administratrix of the estate of the late William LAWLER, transferring his property to William LYNCH, her husband. The relationship between Margaret LAWLER LYNCH and William LAWLER is unclear. However, William LAWLER's tombstone is next to Margaret's in St. Columbkille's Cemetery, and (here comes the Co. Laois connection -- thanks for your patience) reads: William LAWLOR died Mar. 1, 1876 Aged 60 years Born in Queens Co. Ireland Son of M and M LAWLOR Given his age (born 1816, apparently), it is possible that he is my ggg-grandmother's brother. In any case, it seems probable that she, too, is from Co. Laois. Does anyone recognize these LAWLER/LAWLORs? Thanks, Tracy Ossmann _____________________________________________________________________ Get your own family web site at at www.MyFamily.com! --MyFaMiLyMiMeBoUnDaRy02292000--

    1. [IRL-LAOIS] LUCAS, RYAN
    2. T. Bryan & B. Garvey
    3. Good morning, My gggg grandfather John RYAN hailed from Maryborough, Queen's County. He was born in circa 1786 (parents unknown at this stage). John RYAN married Nancy LUCAS (date unknown) and they had the following children; Betsy b. c. 1815 Catherine b. c. 1822 Margaret b. c. 1827 Mary b. c. 1830. John RYAN was convicted of robbing a laundry and transported to NSW aboard the ship Larkins (2) in 1829. In 1832 he requested that his wife and family be allowed to join him the Colony. His request was granted and his wife Nancy LUCAS and their daughters Catherine, Margaret and Mary arrived in NSW in 1836 aboard the ship Thomas Harrison. At the time of receiving permission to join her husband in NSW Nancy's address was Tay Lane, Maryborough, Queen's County. Betsy RYAN did not make the journey to NSW with her mother and sisters and what became of her is not known. I'm always looking for more information on Nancy LUCAS and John RYAN in Ireland but have hit the proverbial brick wall. Best wishes, Terri. 3. My apologies. I erred when I said in my original message that Lord De Vesci still lives in Queens Co. I now understand that there is no remaining member of the De Vesci family in Queens Co. Mea culpa!

    1. [IRL-LAOIS] Re: Roll Call - WILDE, DIER, DE VESCI
    2. Tom Wilde
    3. My g,g,g,grandfather was Thomas William Robert WILDE (b. 1761 in Cushentown, Ireland - county unknown) who married Frances DIER (Dyer?) (b. 1770 in Ireland). They lived in Abbeyleix, Queens Co., where they had at least 13 children (my great aunt once told me that there were nineteen children but I've only found thirteen). One of the younger sons was my g,g,grandfather, Edward Wilde (b. 21 Sep. 1812, in Abbeyleix), who emigrated to Ontario, Canada, in 1827 with his older brother Jonathan Wilde. Other siblings were: Anne, Thomas (died less than a year old), Sarah, Margaret, Frances, Robert, Thomas, Jane Elizabeth, Henry, Andrew and William. Would like to exchange info about my Wilde family of Abbeyleix with anyone who is interested. Thomas Wm. Robt. Wilde is a brick wall and am *very* interested in finding out who his parents, grandparents, etc., were. Also need more info on Frances Dier's family. My great aunt said that there is a connection to Oscar Wilde's family but I haven't found it yet. She also claimed a connection to the De Vesci family of Queens Co. but I haven't found that either. Count De Vesci was very well known in Queens Co. at that time and his descendant, Lord De Vesci, still lives in the manor outside Abbeyleix.
