William FELTIS was born about 1800 in Scotland. There was at least one other son from this family who immigrated to the United State. Edward A. Edward's oldest son, William moved to Royal Center, Indiana. Soloman FELTIS was baptized in the Church of England. He was married 20 FEB 1844 to Catherine WADE, daughter of James and Sarah (RALPH) WADE of Enniscorthy, Ireland. Catherine was born on 1 AUG 1823 in England or Ireland. Soloman FELTIS was a tailor. They immigrated to the United States about 1847. There is some evidence they came through Kingston, Ontario, Canada to Ohio. They had eight children. Their oldest daughter was Sarah J. born 12 DEC 1844 in Enniscorthy. She was five years old in the 1850 Benton, Crawford Co., OH census. Their oldest son, Frank Sylvester (spelled Feltus) was born 14 APR 1846 in Enniscorthy, Ireland. He married Margaret A. Woodside on 20 DEC 1868 in Lykins, Crawford Co., OH. Soloman FELTIS was a Tailor and served as Postmaster for Poplar-Benton, Ohio on 24 MAY 1860. He died 1 OCT 1892 in Benton, Crawford Co., Ohio. Catherine died 24 APR 1900 in Benton. They are buried in Benton Cemetary. 1. [LAOIS] Dowling/Doolin, Bergin
    2. Hi Janice, I don't have anything specific to contribute to your history, but here is some additional info. My grandparents were married in Waterbury, CT, in 1899. There were many Bergins in Waterbury although I do not know which, if any, were related to my grandmother, Mary Bergin Carey. In fact, two of the mayors of Waterbury were Edward Bergin and his son Edward Bergin. In your history though, your grandfather John Bergin settled in PA while your g-grandfather Martin Parkinson immigrated to Waterbury. If you would like to view Waterbury Clock, click on postcards at this url < http://www.biblio.org/bronson/wtbyhist.htm>. My g-uncle immigrated to Australia and looking for his records has been extremely difficult. Do you know where your g-uncles settled in Australia? Thanks..........Marg

    2. Eddie, I would have to go back one more generation & locate the parents of Catherine to determine the relationship between Bridget Dooling & Catherine Dowling. I do know that Catherine had a brother Tom, but I hadn't heard of a sister Bridget. How near is Ballycuddahy to Ballickmoyler? On my Bergin line, I only know that my g-uncle Denis (bachelor, d 1936) is interred in Aghaboe Cemetery. He was the last remaining Bergin from this particular family as his 3 sisters emigrated to the US. There is a reference noted in my files regarding a Bergin cousin Patrick Delaney who emigrated to the US @ 1925 & was sponsored by the Bergin sisters in Waterbury, CT. His obituary stated that he was the son of John & Ann (Glennon) Delaney & was survived by his wife, Margaret Gavigan Delaney. He also had 2 brothers, Michael & Christopher, and a sister Mrs. Finton Kelleen all of County Laois. I've tried to give you bits & pieces of what info I have that could possibly be pertinent to you. It would be great to have a connection......Marg

    3. Seeking information on Peter MCEVOY, b. 5 Jan 1825, Mountmellick, Laois. Married Julia Ann DUNN 13 Jul 1858, Lancaster, PA. Also, Patrick MCEVOY, b 1805, Mountmellick, Laois. Married Julia MAHER 12 Jul 1835, Mountmellick, Laois. Family lore says that Patrick MCEVOY was either a cousin or uncle of Peter MCEVOY who lived with Peter's family. Patrick came to the US in 1823 and became a railroad contractor. Peter arrived ca. 1848-50 to work on the railroad. I believe Peter had a brother Dennis who eventually settled in Pittsburgh, PA. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated. Nancy
