    2. Christina Hunt
    3. I found these KELLYS extracted in a film I am reading. They were the only listing for Laois. I don't know what Barony is meant here. I have to guess it means the diocese was Ossory. 1821 Census Queens' County, Barony of Upper Ossory, Parish of Aghaboe. Townland of Cram_? No. 18 Kelly, William, 37, steward; Sarah, wife, 35 John, 5 1/2 Michael, 2 Mary, 7 Jane, 3 Morrissey, Anty, 24 servant Townland of Ballysoller No. 34 Kelly, Sarah, 55, widow, farmer, 6 acres John, 23, Labourer Ed., 19, Labourer Mary, 26 Sarah, 15 Townland of Knockrow No. 8 one story house Kelly, Daniel, 36, Labourer Sally, wife, 30 Margaret, 10 Sally, 8 Mary, 5 Ann, 3 Patrick, und. 1 No. 9 Kelly, Patrick, 57, labourer, one acre Bridget, wife, 30 Mary, 15 Sally, 13 Grace, 9 Kate, 4 No. 10 Kelly, Kyran, 46, farmer and labourer, 2 acres Mary, wife, 44 Daniel, 16 Mary, 18 Elenor, 12 Bridget, 10 Ann, 5 This is all there was. 1. [LAOIS] Roll Call: Conroy, Sutherland
    2. Maureen Doyle
    3. My late mother in law told me that her mother, Nora Conroy, was born c.1880s in Mountmellick area. She believed her grandmother's single name was Sutherland. Nora Conroy went to Dublin to work and married Michael McCluskey. The couple lived in Sandyford, Co Dublin. Their daughter, Sophie, remembered visiting a farm in Mountmellick as a child, but all contact with the family was later lost. Sophie married Joseph Doyle & a number of their descendants & also McCluskey relatives still live in the Barnacullia/ Sandyford/ Kilgobbin area of Co Dublin.

    1. [LAOIS] Roll Call: O'Connor (Conner) of Abbeyleix; Mulhall (Munhall)
    2. Penny Ford
    3. My great great grandfather Michael O'CONNOR (CONNER) was born in Abbeyleix in about 1831. According to a biography written of him in 1888, he was sent to England to school and then went on to Boston in 1853. We believe we have him in the 1851 Birmingham, England census living with a William Conner, a few years over. Michael used the name Conner in Boston but changed back to O'Connor when he moved on to the American Midwest (Illinois, then Fillmore County, Minnesota.) Other families from County Laois settled in his area of Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota. He married a member of the MULHALL (MUNHALL) family of Abbeyleix -- these Abbeyleix MUNHALLS were the Pennsylvania steel millionaires -- they were cousins of Michael's wife Bridget MULHALL, who apparently was born elsewhere in Ireland about 1830 or so, but to at least a father from the Abbeyleix area.. Her sister Ann Mulhall married a LAWLOR. Once she arrived in the US, she changed her name to MUNHALL. I appreciate any assistance tracing these families. Thanks. Penny Ford Denver, Colorado
