    1. [LAOIS] Re: WILDE, DIER, Abbeyleix, Queens Co., 1750-1850
    2. Hi Penny, My g,g,grandfather (I left off a 'g' in my original message) Edward Wilde, born Sep. 21, 1812, in Abbeyleix, Queens Co., Ireland, emigrated to Canada with his older brother Jonathan and his family. According to another researcher of this line they left Dublin in June 1827 and were at sea for about five months, arriving in Canada in October 1827. I do not have the name of the ship they sailed on or the arrival city although I'm fairly certain that they went directly to Canada (some other researchers of this Wilde family claim that they went to New York first but I can't confirm that). They first settled in the Township of Portland, Frontenac Co., in what was then known as Upper Canada. Later they moved to Camden Township, Lennox & Addington Co. Descendants of Jonathan Wilde still live in Napanee and surrounding areas of L&A Co. Hope this helps. Tom

    3. Mt ancestors Patrick Fitzpatrick and Bridget Kelly both came from Queen's Co. They were born c. 1821 and c. 1825 respectively. I don't know when or where they were married but had come over to England and were living in Birmingham at the time of the birth of their daughter Sarah Fitzpatrick in 1853. 1. [LAOIS] MOYLES
    2. Trying to identify James MOYLES, farmer of Laois. His son, Joseph Henry MOYLES, married Annie Elizabeth STARLING in 1858 in Islington. Joseph and Annie migrated to Canada shortly afterwards, living near Guelph, later in London Ontario. Joseph taught astronomy at various schools in Canada. Later, the family lived in Port Huron, Michigan, finally settling in Battle Creek, Michigan. Family was protestant. There are two groups of MOYLES families in Laois - one near Mountmellick, another in Ballycoolan. Both include persons named James. Jennifer Clark clark1528@aol.com

    2. P. Z. Ford
    3. I am also looking for a Dooling family from Laois. My gr gr grandmother Mulhall / Munhall 's sister Cathrin was married to a Dooling. This family apparently settled in Chicago, but much of the family did settle in Allegheny County, PA. I have been unable to find Cathrin or her son, who was supposedly a priest in Chicago in the 1880's, in the censuses. I would be interested in knowing when your Bridget Dooling came to the US, by what route, etc., if you know. Thanks. Penny Ford

    1. [LAOIS] TOBIN, DOOLING, DELANEY, Ballickmoyler, Queens
    2. Eddie Lubinsky
    3. I am looking to talk to anyone who may have these names in their family tree. My g-g-g-grandparents, James Tobin and Bridget Dooling, came to the USA in 1865 with their daughters, Margaret and Mary. They ended up in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. I am not sure who James's parents were and Bridget's parents were Dennis Dooling and Bridget Delaney. James's father may have been John or James. I know he was working in a coal mine in 1865 when his daughter Mary was born. I look forward to anyone who may have info. on them. Eddie Lubinsky

    3. I am very interested in emigration to Canada from Abbeyleix in the 1850's. We are thinking that perhaps our Michael Conner emigrated to Canada first, then to Boston. Could you send me any ship or other info on the Wilde family immigration to Ontario? I would like town names, as well, and dates. Could help me track mine down. \thank you. Penny Ford Colorado

    3. Looking for DONNELLY and COSTIGAN these names in the districts of Ballinakill, Carlow Town, Sleatty (Slaty), Graigue, Graiguecullen, Graiguenahown (Knock/Knockbaun). John DONNELLY, shoemaker, (born circa 1801 Co. Laois) married Elizabeth COSTIGAN (born circa 1806 Co. Laois) 1826 at Ballinakill Co. Laois. Elizabeth COSTIGAN may (?) have been baptised 1806 at Ballinakill, parents shown on register as James Costigan and Catherine Murphy. Most of their children I have found baptised in Carlow Town at the RC Cathedral of Assumption between 1829-1848. But still looking for the eldest child, Patrick DONNELLY baptised about 1826-1830. 1. [LAOIS] WILDE, DIER, Abbeyleix, Queens Co., 1750-1850
    2. My g,g,grandfather was Thomas William Robert Wilde, born about 1750, married Frances Dier/Dyer; they lived in Abbeyleix, Queens Co., where most of their children were born. According to my great aunt there were 19 children but thus far I have found only 13: Anne, Thomas (died in infancy), Sarah, Margaret, Frances, Jonathan, Robert, Thomas, William, Jane, Henry, Andrew and Edward (my g,grandfather). I have a great deal of information on several of these 'Wilde children' [g] especially those who emigrated to Ontario, Canada. There are descendants of this family currently living in North America (both Canada and the USA), New Zealand, Australia, and I believe some are still in Ireland although not living in Laois Co. There also may be some descendants living in England. Am willing to share information with anyone who thinks they are connected to this family of Abbeyleix.
