Hi Listers, I am new to this list and am wondering by chance if someone may be able to help me. My Husbands g.grandparents came to Australia in 1877 on the "Samuel Plimsoll". Although I have some information on this family in Australia, I have very little details on their lives before shipping here. Their names were PATRICK CONDON & his wife MARGARET (nee MURPHY). They came to Australia free with their 9 children --MARY, ANNE, CATHERINE, HUGH, BRIDGET, MARGARET, JULIA, MICHAEL, JAMES. The ages of the children on arrival ranged from 17 to an infant. PATRICK & MARGARET had another another 2 children born after their arrival - ELIZABETH & ELLEN. The Shipping Indent states PATRICK CONDON came from Queens County. He was a farm labourer. His father's name was HUGH CONDON. (Mother's name not stated.) Religion: Roman Catholic. He married MARGARET MURPHY in Kilkenny. When ? - Not sure but if we take a look at the Indent the eldest child was 17 yrs old in 1877 so she was born C 1860. Going on this we could assume they were married in the previous couple of years. MARGARET MURPHY came from Kilkenny. Her parents were JAMES & MARGARET MURPHY (maiden name unknown,) Her Father was a farmer. On her Death Certificate in 1895 it states she is 54 years of age, married in Kilkenny at the age of 17. This would show she was born C1841 and married C1858. My question is: How am I to trace their Marriage from here in Australia. Can someone point me in the right direction. By doing so I may be able to find more information and hopefully trace their Births and that of their Irish children. Any help would be appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation.
