This may or may not be helpful. In the book "Irish Land Owners of 1876" there is a James Ryan listed with the address Foulksrath Castle, Kilkenny. I don't know if this is the same or different than the castle in Kilkenny City, maybe some of the other listers will know. Here is a list of all the Ryan's for Kilkenny County in 1876 that owned land, their home address (not necessarily the same as land), and the size and value of the property.
