You're right, its not an official townland. Entering just plain Tinlough into google gives a number of hits - the one from the Munster Express may be the most interesting. From that description, the settlement/village of Tinlough (apparently a well-know location in the far S. Kilkenny area) would be in this area. Carrigeen village, probably just the 3 or 4 houses, school and St. Kevins RC church [Mooncoin RC parish] shown on the Discovery map, 3 1/2 miles SSW of Kilmacow, is also shown by name on the mid-1800's maps, in the townlands of Clasharoe and Corluddy. This certainly seems close enough to Kilmacow to convince me that Tinlough - wherever it is - is in the vicinity of these two locations.
