You are the first other Bowes I've heard of from Ballyragget in Kilkenny. I can't connect with your particular Hannah Bowes, because my Bowes's emigrated during the famine. But they were from the Ballyragget area, I think maybe from Finnan just NE of Ballyragget, but the info they passed on after emigrating was "Ballyragget." In the Griffith's Valuation there is only one Bowes listed in 1849/1850 for Donaghmore Parish (the one that includes Ballyragget), and it is Michael Bowes in Finnan. I think this is the father of my family of emigrants. He was to have emigrated after his children in 1853. He was by then a widower, his wife, an Aileen or Elizabeth Brophy having died. His children were Lawrence (Laurence?), Edward, Dennis, John, Mary, Brigit. All emigrated to central New York. I am working to establish that the Michael Bowes in the Griffiths Valuation is one and the same as "my" Michael Bowes, no small task. It sounds as if th! ey may have left cousins behind from whom your ancestor came. The Bowes variant was not as common as the Bowe variant. Birth records for this parish are missing 1806 to 1855, so Hannah should have one if she was born 1865, but I'm not sure how to locate it off hand. If you find it please let me know what you find out.
