John was born in Kilkenny, probably the northern region, in 1811. He married Ellen Kenney, who was born in Castlecomer. I think they met in central NY after emigration, but it's possible the families knew each other from Ireland. John Bowe was said to be a "cousin" of Lawrence Bowes, my gggrandfather, who came from the Ballyragget region, near where Castlecomer is. Did your Bridget Bowe settle outside Syracuse??? That would seem to be a sure and fairly direct family tie, though I have little doubt the Bowe and Bowes families in Kilkenny are the same bunch generally speaking.
