I know that Jonh Kirby and his wife Mary Talbot came over from Kilkenny (on what ship or what port I don't know). I know one of their daughters, Mary Kirby, is my great great grandmother who married a WIndham in Mississippi. They had my great grandmother Lula Melverne Windham who then bore my grandfather, James Robert Sherman. He then married Sammi Lynn Davis who then had my mother Janet Lynn Sherman, and then she married my dad William Russell Crumby. I have a picture of John Kirby and a copy of his residency slip for Mobile, AL (he died there about 1898/1899). Any information anyone can give me on Kirbys in Kilkenny or Ireland in general would be appreciated. Since it's been so difficult to trace, I starting to wonder if Kirby is the original spelling and if John is originally from Kilkenny.
