Hi list, I am new to the list and to searching in Ireland. I have been told it is sometimes very diffecult, but maybe you could offer me some guidance. I will shortly be travelling to Ireland to seek some information on two of my ancestors. One was George Gould (or Goold) and, according to his Army Service Record, he was '... born in the Parish of Dunluce near the town of Bush Mills in the County of Antrim...' and he '...attested for the 96th Regt. at Glasgow...Lanark on the 22nd Octr. 1850 at the age of 19 years...' thus putting his date of birth at 1830/1. The censuses of 1881 and 91, and his death registation, put it at 1831/4 Elizabeth Wall (born 'Ireland' 1841/4 per censuses of Scotland' 81 & '91 and England 1901) married George in 25.11.1862 in Kilkeny according to two of their chidren's Scottish birth certificates and Dublin according to a third, while he was still in the Army, and the couple were posted to India with 36th foot Reg where his daughters, Henrietta (Moradabad, Bengal, 1867) and Rose Ann (1868) were born. He was discharged in 1872 in Dublin and moved to Scotland by 1874. I have a full history of both of them in Scotland but don't know where to start in Ireland. Is it possible to find the marrige or birth records from such scant information and if so, where would it be best to look?
