She married John Nelson who was in the British Army in about 1850. I know nothing else about Margaret but am very keen to find out more.

    3. Not sure if this can be of any help but there were a number of Brophy's that settled in the area of St. Columban, County of Two Mountains (Deux Montagnes), Quebec, Canada in the early 1800's - I believe that they were all from Kilkenny and likely from Ballyraggat. If you visit the LSD site (www.familysearch.org) and then check the Canadian 1881 census in the search area and put in the name Brophy and the Province as Quebec, you will find a number of Brophy's listed in both the St. Columban area and in Montreal (St. Columban is about 60 miles NW of Montreal). Perhaps they are related to your Brophy ? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 29, 2004 4:12 PM Subject: [KILKENNY] Brophy from Kilkenny > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: BROPHY, NELSON > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/5538/WWC.2ACI/3298 > > Message Board Post: > > I am trying to find information on a Margaret Brophy (Brophey?) who was born in Kilkenny about 1832.
