On James' application for citizenship he stated he was born in the parish of Muckelvee, County Kilkenny, Ireland and emigrated to the USA in May 1831. The Muckelvee parish is believed to have been in the south-west corner of County Kilkenny in the Barony of Iverk. While it is thought to have existed alone as late as the 1850s; it now is a district within the Parish of Mooncoin. James is thought to have come from the Portnahully area and was thought to be the son of Patrick Doyle and Mary Quinn. I am looking for confirmation that the parish of Muckelvee did exist in the southern part of County Kilkenny around 1831. Also looking for descendants of Patrick Doyle and Mary Quinn.
