In 1850 James Cullen and Margaret Brennan Cullen arrived in the US with their 5 mo old daughter Margaret. James Cullen stated on his citizenship papers that he is from Kilkenny. I know that Margaret Brennan is the daughter of Thomas Brennan and Ellen Comerford per her death record. SO...I looked for James Cullen and Thomas Brennan on the Griffith's valuation.... There are 49 (yes 49) Thomas Brennans in Kilkenny and 12 James Cullens. Then I got the bright idea to see if any of these folks lived near each other....thinking that since James and Margaret were married and had a child before leaving Ireland, maybe they lived in the same area..... AND, I found a Thomas Brennan in Ballilogue in the parish of Rower and 4 of the James Cullens (including one Jr.) in various towns in that parish... I thought this might give me a clue of where to look for marriage and birth records but have not yet found any available on the internet. Anyone know where I might find any records for this parish....other than thru the Rothe Center in Kilkenny (who I have already contacted)???? Or better yet....anyone know any of these folks, or have another suggestion on sorting this out. Will be in Kilkenny in November and would love to see where they were from...
