Your mention of the Brenoch mountains aroused my interest, since my research shows that Kilkenny County is the homeplace of most of the Irish Brannacks. Brenoch is probably a version of the Irish Breannagh/Breathneagh/Brannack/Brannock which is the Irish version of "Walsh." I've had the experience of telling my wife's cousins in Ireland that my grandmother was a Brannack and their response was: "Oh. Walsh!" The Kennis appears to be derived from St. Canice, whose cathedral is in Kilkenny Town Regards Fred Boland BOLAND/BRANNACK/McMANIGAL/McMONEGAL/FOLEY
