They were based in, in think, Wexford, and were absentee landlords. There's a book about them I believe. My Bowes family rented land from them outside Ballyragget before emigrating during the potatoe famine. I got this information from Griffiths. No doubt there were Kavanaghs that were not of this landowning family also, and Brennen may have been somewhat common. So it wouldn't be too surprising to find a Brennan and Kavanagh near one another in Kilkenny, perhaps primarily in the north part of the county. But I am only surmising.
