A nice town. > Can you tell me where the Welsh mountains in ireland are < Playing around with Google, I am confident that they are in Co. Kilkenny. But just "where" is a bit more difficult. Google had an entry from the Walsh family website (you probably know about that) that mentioned the Welsh mountains, with an alternative name of Sliegh "Brenoch". The Sliegh is undoubtedly currently spelled Slieve or Sliabh - meaning a mountain or mountain range. I don't know about the Brenoch, so I'll go out to a couple of placename mailing lists and fora and get a better response. There is a Brandon Hill (Cnoc Bhre/anail) just a couple of miles S of Graiguenamanagh. The Cnoc (hill) is more or less in the same category as Slieve. I doubt if the Brenoch is at all related to Brandon, but I'll try to find out. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pete Schermerhorn, in the glorious Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts
