Hi, Iam also looking for Welsh or Walsh ancestors, I don't know if there is any connection but thought i would contact you just encase. I am looking for a James Welsh born 1836/37 whose father was also James mother not known, both father & son were coalminers, James junior moved to england in about the late 1850 and married in staffordshire 1861 before moving to Scotland. We believe they came from the kilkenny area or around where the coalmines were, If you can help we will be very pleased, as at the moment we are stuck as not knowing the mothers name cannot trace the marriage cert. regards beryl Welsh
Thanks Beryl for your email. I do not have much more information than I put in my original letter. By different records that I have, I figure MY James Welch was born around 1844. I am going to take a chance and order a film from the FHC for a place in Kilkenny called GRANGESILVIA. The only reason is that there was several families of Welch and Delany. which were the names of my James' parents. (Patrick Welch & Margaret Delany).
