We have a family of Campions in our background. Margaret Campion married John Brennan around 1845, I think. Found a marriage entry in the Lisdowney RC parish register for John Brennan and Margaret Campion on July 30 1845. I am not positive these are our people, but the similarity is striking. At one time John's grandson said the family was from Freshford. The marriage record looks like "Seskin." They emigrated to North America in 1846. Margaret had a brother, (I think) Michael Campion, who emigrated around the same time. They came via Canada to Michigan City, Indiana. Their son Matthew Elevart Campion became a priest in Indiana. I know he was related because the family says a cousin married John Francis Brennan and Margaret Hoffman in Logansport, Indiana. The registry is signed by M.E. Campion. There is some connection to someone named Elevart-Green in Kilkenny. Sure could use some help on these folks. Their origins in Kilkenny and kinfolk.

Dan, There are two townlands in Kilkenny named Seskin. You can find them by doing a query at this site http://www.seanruad.com/ Additionally, there are Campion families located in both Freshford and Seskin in the Griffith's Valuation.
