Susie Have narrowed down the convict list of John Murphy arrived Australia between 1832 and 1834 Certificates of Freedom 1832 MURPHY John ship Captain Cook 1832 49/0278 19 May 1849 4/4412 1026 TL 48/177 MURPHY John alias FAIRCLOTH ship Dunvegan Castle 1832 43/2188 18 Dec 1843 4/4388 1016 1833 MURPHY John ship Portland 1833 40/1639 5 Oct 1840 4/4361 1007 TL 38/1340 MURPHY John ship Royal Admiral 1833 40/1735 20 Oct 1840 4/4362 1007 TL 39/1147 1834 MURPHY John ship James Laing 1834 43/0921 7 Jun 1843 4/4383 1014 in lieu of CF 40/615 MURPHY John ship James Laing 1834 40/0615 3 Apr 1840 4/4357 1005 renewed CF 43/921 MURPHY John ship Parmelia 1834 40/1672 10 Oct 1840 4/4361 1007 TL 38/675 Pardons MURPHY John - ship City of Edinburgh 1832 48/389 CP 31 Dec 1847 [4/4455] 785 - 381-382 These records could hold the info on where they were from ie Kilkenny and also if any of the ships sailed from Ireland. The 2 John Murphy's arriving 1833 both served the standard 7 years of Transport for a minor offence. I would try and get a transcript of the entries for these two.
