    1. [KILKENNY] WALL 's , Kilkenny City- RC and C of I -Why?

    3. Hi list, I have recently discovered from burial records that my ancestor Elizabeth WALL and her daughter were of the RC faith. Her husband George GOULD was a protestant. Thus they were buried in separate sections of Hebburn (Tyneside) cemetary. She and her six sibblings was baptised (1830's/40's) at St John's RC and St Mary's RC Kilkenny, her parents were married there (1832), and yet she and George (a soldier from Antrim) were married in St. John's C of I, Kilkenny(1862). This seems very strange, bearing in mind the marriage took place in Elizabeth's Home Town. Excuse my naivity for the answer may be obvious to someone aware of the religios rules / conventions, but would the RC Church have refused to marry them, or is it likely there was some other reason? Naturally I would be delighted to hear from anyone could could unravel the mistery or who might have connections with the family.
