On 3 June 1840 Honna Walsh oldest daughter of Thomas Walsh and Bridget Hennessy (various spellings) from Kilkenny Road was baptised. The sponsors at the baptism were John Cuddihy and Cath Brophy. On 30 Jan 1847 Patrick Walsh, of Chapel L. Thomastown, 3rd son of Thomas Walsh and Bridget Hennessy was baptised, sponsors were Thomas Cody and Maria Lawless (could be Mary Lawless. On 4 November 1850 Ellen Walsh of Ladywell, Thomastown, 4th daughter of Thomas Walsh and Bridget Hennessy was baptised, sponsors were Michael Phelan and Judy Dunne. Ellen is my ggrandmother. All of these baptisms came from the Callan Parish registers. It maybe a possibility that Whelan and Phelan are the same people but a typo. The 'P' and 'W', got transcribed incorrectly. Just a thought. I would be interested in hearing from anyone regarding the above names. Hi - do you know if the Judy Dunne mentioned is a relation of Mattie Dunne (she also had a sister) who is a relation of mine - I have a lot of Phelans in my family tree - some of whom moved to New Zealand and some who were related to Minnie Phelan who married James Lang Any help would be great.
