G'day everyone We (Mum Dad and 2 kids under 8) are venturing to Ireland in May - we are interested in suggestions re accommodation in Ireland. What is the best way to go - we will be visiting Co's Kilkenny, Wicklow, Clare and Cork - in no specific order - trying to ascertain information on families (Byrne, Monaghan, Mahoney, McNamara and Hayes) in various locations within the Counties. I normally plan ahead to where I am going and what day I'll be there. You can find some b&bs online and make your arrangements online. I have had good luck doing so. You didn't mention where you are flying into...Dublin has a Tourist centre and many of the larger towns have where you can book b&bs. They are very handy and helpful. I think, if you are driving, you will have a challenge with size of car. You might want to reserve a van. The cars and vans are much smaller than in the US. You may be able to fit the people in the car but the luggage won't fit. Hi, came across this place where we stayed. Great place, good breakfasts, family into genealogy. I believe that Mrs. Phelan (the hostess) used to be at the Rothe house. Not too far off the beaten path North of Kilkenny city. We stayed in one of the carriage houses. Country setting, good for walks after dinner.
