Hi Ron, My Gt Grandmother was Mary BREEN who came to Australia in 1879. It says on her marriage cert she was born in Callan, Kilkenny, she had a sister named Bridget who remained in Ireland and other siblings(apparently about 5 or six according to my now deceased Grandmother), her fathers name was John, and that unfortunately is all I have. Jannette, My Saunders family originates in Co. Kilkenny. I have found their baptismal records in the Callan and Windgap parish records. The Breen family is not directly related to me, but at some Breens have been found living near and working with the Saunders family in both Wisconsin and Iowa. I have the Callan parish records on loan at my local FHC. If you can give me an approximate date of birth for Mary Breen I will check the records the next time I visit the FHC. Hi Janette, We may have a connection and we may not. My wife is very closely connected to a John Breen who came from Clonoulty in County Tipperary. He arrived in Australia as a convict in 1836 to serve seven years for manslaughter. If we can connect him with your grandmother's John Breen then I have miles of material on the family. Kilkenny and Tipperary are adjoining counties so the possibilities are strong. If you contact me off list I will send you a file which will give you an insight into our John Breen.
