Maureen, We are all familiar with the many spellings of Irish names. So, give the group what you do have and maybe someone can help you sort it out. Notice I didn't say make sense, that'll never happen. (Mine, for example, used four different spellings of the last name; depending upon who they were fleeing from at the moment.) It's kinda' like noisy neighbors; first you swear; then ignore; and finally use for jokes. I know my GGGandfather came from Kilkenny Co. but know little more. Where would anyone suggest I start? I am at a loss, the last name is spelled in so many different ways I get confused. But I am determined to find something linking me to Ireland other than the the few papers I have on him. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank You ever so much Maureen ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2007 20:27:29 EDT From: JackLangton@aol.com Subject: Re: [KILKENNY] Searching Help needed To: IRL-KILKENNY@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <d29.16775e09.345a7771@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" In a message dated 10/31/2007 7:47:52 P.M. Tell us whatever you know, perhaps the various members of the list can add to it. To where? Was he married at that time? Did he have children at that time? These are very important questions which will give a clue as to where to look for information. Also, how was the family name (and its variations) spelled. What was his first name? If you can give us as much of the above information as you have, we can probably give you some suggestions how to proceed.
