Kate, Is it possible to find any Dermody/Cody unions in the period 1820-1835 In regards to the above there were children that we know of, Maria Dermody c1832 and Anastatia Dermody c1835 +/- a year or two,we also know there were other children who went to America but do not know their names only that the mother was shown on immigration papers to Australia as in "America" father "dead" that was in 1863 Also looking for a William Dwyer/ Anastatia Dermody union around 1850-1856. William and Anastatia as far as we know were both teachers. And last but not least Patrick Reidy(ready)/Maria Dermody union 29/4/1856 have the date from husbands police service records but not the place just Kilkenny. Patrick was a policeman in the RIC and Maria as far as we know was a teacher. The Dermody's were part of the Dermody "Masters" as far as we are aware. Doolan could be a variation.I have not been able to pinpoint the Kilkenny location but he did buy a lot of land in NSW Australia, that is still in the family, so I will keep looking for that allusive place and parents. Thomastown Catherine b. 1848, Thomastown Ellen b. 1850, Ladywell, Thomastown (my ggrandmother) d.1933, Melbourne, Vic. AUS Bridget, b. 1853, Ladywell, Thomastown I'm not sure of the naming customs of those times in Ireland, would I be right in saying that Edmund would have been named after Bridgets father (or would it have been Thomas father). Honna would have been named after Bridgets mother????? If at all possible could someone have a look for a death for Edmund b. 1838. His daughter Mary was born c 1857 in co.Kilkenny. No children were registered 1864 onwards, so I have assumed a marriage in the 1840s (allowing 20+ years of childbirth). Helen, I saw this message as well as Kate's answer regarding the marriage information that follows: "MARRIAGE:Feb 7, 1836 Thomas Brophy & Judith Landrigan Witnesses: Thomas Brophy and Mary Keefe Town: Screhan, Callan". Screhan is a small townland in this parish and from my research experience this marriage entry would indicate that the bride and her parents were from this particular townland. Consequently, Thomas Brophy may be from another townland nearby that is not in the Callan parish which would account for the fact no baptisms of their children were found. My Saunders/Lonergan (Landrigan) family originates in Screhan, Callan. John Saunders married Mary Lonergan (Landrigan) on 22 Feb 1822 in Screhan. They had several children baptized in this parish and about 1833/1834 relocated to the townland of Roscon (which abuts Screhan) in the Windgap Parish. Mary and Judith Lonergan (Landrigan) are most likely related. However, because theire are no records which exist prior to 1820/21 the actual connection cannot be determined. I do have information about the Landrigan (Lonergan) family from Screhan obtained from the Callan/Windgap parish records, Tithe Applotments and Griffith's Valuation if you are interested. I have a Robert Walsh W/wife Margaret. 2 sons Walter b. May 1821, Robert Jr. b. March 16, 1826. It appears that Walter, son of Robert, married a Catherine Ryan in 1849 and 6 children.
